Shimmy control built into the tailwheel. No bolt on needed.
Tailwheel shimmy has a lot of causes, including negative head camber, tire wear, worn components, and tailwheel loading. Those causes keep shifting with load, time, and wear. The 3200-SD dampens shimmy at the tailwheel itself, so you aren't constantly chasing the source.
The design is simple. A spring-loaded ball plunger threads into the new tailwheel head. As the fork swings through straight trailing, the plunger rolls onto a hardened stainless steel striker mounted on the steering arm, which adds rotational resistance in that position only. Everywhere else, the tailwheel steers and swivels the way you expect.
Resistance is fully tunable. Thread the plunger in for more dampening, or back it out for less. Set it just far enough to stop the shimmy, and most pilots can't feel it in the rudder pedals.
It's built to last. The plunger replaces in seconds. The circular striker can be loosened and clocked a few degrees to expose a fresh wear surface, so you should never need to replace it over the life of the assembly. New dust seals are included to fit the updated steering arm.
Everything else is the 3200 you already trust: variable steering, a sealed and lubricated swivel, and a full catalog of PMA'd replacement parts.
Currently only compatible with single bolt tail spring attachments.
Eligible for PA-18, PA-20, and PA-25
